- Cedric Nkabinde, the chief of staff to Minister Senzo Mchunu, is being criticized for referring a complaint about National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola to the Investigating Directorate Against Corruption, which led to the arrest of Crime Intelligence boss Dumisani Khumalo.
- Advocate Norman Arendse argued that Nkabinde's referral was inappropriate and questioned his decision during a parliamentary investigation into police corruption.
