- The African National Congress (ANC) in KwaZulu-Natal has asked Siphile Mdaka to resign as Deputy Mayor of the uMkhanyakude District Municipality just hours after he was elected.
- The ANC believes he should be reinstated as mayor instead, following his recent removal from that position.
