Budget 3.0: National Treasury slashes funds for early retirement programme
  • The National Treasury has reduced funding for the early retirement program by half, from R11 billion to R5.5 billion over two years, aiming to encourage public servants to retire early and reduce the Public Sector Wage Bill.
  • Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana announced the revised budget during a recent session at the national assembly, maintaining allocations for early retirement and other reforms at slightly lower levels than initially planned in March.
