- Higher Education Minister Buti Manamela explained that the cap on student accommodation costs set by the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) was created to prevent rising prices from getting out of control.
- While students feel the cap of R50,000 to R60,000 is insufficient for their housing needs, Manamela emphasized that it is necessary to manage public funds responsibly.
