- An Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) councillor in Cape Town switched to the Democratic Alliance (DA), making it the first time this has happened in the city.
- The councillor, Lungiswa Ntshuntshe, was welcomed by Cape Town Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis, who praised her for joining the party to contribute to better service delivery.
