- Gender activists in Malawi are protesting against the lack of women in public appointments, particularly in board positions at parastatals.
- They argue that the current male-dominated boards do not comply with the Gender Act, which mandates a 40-60 percent representation of women.
- President Lazarus Chakwera has acknowledged the concerns raised and pledged to address the issue, while activists are calling for support from development partners to ensure compliance with gender equality laws.
