- The Freedom Front Plus says that if Julius Malema, leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters, does not succeed in appealing his gun charges, he should lose his seat in Parliament because the law prevents anyone with a prison sentence over 12 months from serving.
- Although Malema's sentence is currently suspended while he appeals, the Freedom Front Plus believes his conviction raises questions about his ability to serve in public office.
