Court finds SABC CEO can’t dictate that it should stop using GNU term
  • The Gauteng High Court in Johannesburg ruled that the CEO of the SABC cannot stop the organization from using the term 'Government of National Unity' as demanded by former President Jacob Zuma in 2024.
  • Zuma and the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party's challenge against the SABC's use of the term was dismissed by the court, which stated that the CEO does not have the authority to comply with such demands and that the matter should be addressed through proper channels like the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) Act.
