- Senator Benson Konbowei has switched from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), increasing the APC's majority in the Senate to 74 members.
- This change follows the resignation of Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri from the PDP, who did not specify his next political move but indicated that local government chairmen would support him.
