- The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mr Nyesom Wike, promised to give land in the FCT to the University of Port Harcourt for a new Centre for Leadership and Political Studies, following a request from the university's Governing Council.
- Wike also pledged personal funds, along with contributions from his wife and friends, to support the university in building a multimedia center at its Convocation Arena for its 50th anniversary celebration in 2025.
