- Oron Youth Movement is urging President Bola Tinubu and Senate President Godswill Akpabio to speed up the establishment of the University of Maritime Studies in Oron, Akwa Ibom State, by implementing the provisions of the Establishment Act 2022.
- They are concerned about delays caused by appointments into the legally non-existent Maritime Academy of Nigeria in Oron and are calling for the immediate appointment of a Vice-Chancellor and Governing Council for the new university to ensure its proper take-off.
