- Former Malawi Electoral Commission chairperson Jane Ansah was stopped at the Malawi-Zambia border while trying to escape to Zambia in a Toyota VX Land Cruiser.
- Immigration officials sent her back as she needed permission to leave the country, and she had resigned from her position amid accusations of incompetence following protests after the disputed 2019 elections.
