- A survey conducted by Malawi's Institute of Public Opinion Research (Ipor) suggests that President Peter Mutharika and his Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) may have a slight edge over opposition candidates in the upcoming 2019 elections, with 27% of Malawians favoring the DPP candidate.
- The survey also indicates that the DPP leads in party identification with 33% support, closely followed by the main opposition party, MCP, at 31%.
