- President Cyril Ramaphosa announced a new Government of National Unity (GNU) in South Africa after the 2024 elections, as the ruling party, the African National Congress (ANC), did not secure enough votes to govern alone.
- The GNU, made up of 11 parties, aims to reduce poverty, lower living costs, and improve government services for the people.
