- The Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) has gained a majority in the Nongoma Local Municipality by winning two wards from the National Freedom Party during recent by-elections.
- This victory gives the IFP a total of 23 seats out of 45 in the council, allowing them to fully control the municipality.
