- The Democratic Alliance in Tshwane is concerned that turning the abandoned city hall into an Iranian complex could harm South Africa's relationship with the US.
- The Iranian embassy wants to create Iranian restaurants, a museum, and a library in the hall, but the DA believes the offer should be rejected to protect South African jobs and trade relations with the USA.
