- The Democratic Alliance has introduced a Public Procurement Amendment Bill to replace the Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment Act, aiming to shift from race-based to outcome-driven criteria for companies doing business with the State.
- The proposed Bill also plans to revamp the B-BBEE scorecard by removing requirements for a certain percentage of black ownership or management, with the goal of creating a more inclusive empowerment model in South Africa.
