- The African National Congress (ANC) is finalizing its candidate list for local government elections, which will be sent to the National Executive Committee for approval.
- Meanwhile, the Democratic Alliance (DA) has introduced five candidates in Khayelitsha, aiming to challenge the ANC's stronghold, although the ANC believes the DA is mainly trying to increase its overall vote count rather than genuinely compete in the townships.
