- Eleven Governors from the Peoples Democratic Party have taken their case to the Supreme Court to challenge the president's authority to suspend the democratically elected Governor of Rivers State and the declaration of Emergency rule in the state.
- The governors, representing various states, want the court to determine if the president can lawfully suspend a governor and deputy governor and replace them with unelected nominees under the guise of a State of Emergency, among other constitutional questions.
