- Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Nigeria Democratic Congress, criticized President Bola Tinubu for approving the recruitment of 1,000 forest guards in Oyo State, calling it a sign of poor leadership and a reactive approach to security issues.
- He emphasized that Nigeria's insecurity requires a comprehensive strategy rather than quick fixes, questioning whether similar measures would be taken in other states and the impact on existing security forces.
