- A retired federal works controller, AbdulRazaq Ajani, was brutally murdered in Ilorin on New Year's Day by assailants who followed him from Offa, Kwara state where he spent the holiday.
- The attackers entered Ajani's home, hacked him to death in front of his family, and fled the scene, leaving behind a gruesome sight with blood stains and brain scattered on the floor.
- Police have confirmed the incident and started an investigation, but no suspects have been arrested yet.
