- Hass avocado farmers in the country can now start harvesting and exporting their produce by sea from March 17, 2025, after the government initially declared the variety not ready for export.
- The Agriculture and Food Authority found that the Hass variety was still immature in January 2025, but other varieties like Fuerte and Pinkerton were ready for export earlier, prompting the opening of their harvesting for sea shipment in February 2025.
