- Ekow Quansah Hayford, a Member of Parliament, was killed by robbers, and his wife, Ophelia Hayford, who is a police officer, will now run for his seat in the upcoming election as the New Patriotic Party's candidate.
- Ophelia Hayford resigned from the police force to pursue her candidacy, and her selection follows election regulations allowing for a new candidate to be nominated in the event of a candidate's death before the election.
