- Franklin Cudjoe, the Founding President of IMANI Africa, criticized the quick passing of the Energy Sector Levies (Amendment) Bill, 2025, which imposes a GH¢1 levy on every litre of fuel purchased in Ghana.
- He called it a form of exploitation and urged the Energy Minister to reconsider the move due to existing waste in the sector.
- Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson defended the levy, stating that it will fund liquid fuel procurement for power generation as current electricity tariffs do not cover fuel costs.
