- The Human Rights Defenders Coalition criticized President Peter Mutharika for making disrespectful comments about former President Joyce Banda, calling it an insult to all women in Malawi and discouraging future female leaders.
- They demanded Mutharika apologize to Malawian women and be removed as the HeforShe ambassador for not respecting women's dignity, urging political parties to focus on election issues and Parliament to set a date for the upcoming presidential elections.
