- Former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua claimed that President William Ruto was allowing the sale of illicit brew in Mt. Kenya to reduce the region's registered voters, which drew criticism from Environment CS Aden Duale and Interior PS Raymond Omollo.
- Duale called Gachagua's remarks irresponsible and challenged him to move beyond ethnic politics, while Omollo dismissed the claims as ludicrous and mischievous, stating that linking the government to the tragedies caused by counterfeit alcohol was illegal.
