- Former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua faced impeachment last year after 281 MPs voted to remove him, with the motion sponsored by Kibwezi West MP Mwengi Mutuse listing various charges against him.
- Nairobi's Embakasi East MP Babu Owino did not support the impeachment, stating he didn't see sufficient grounds for it and criticizing the involvement of Gachagua's family in the process.
- Ultimately, Gachagua was impeached by a majority of MPs and later removed from office by the Senate after they upheld several charges against him.
