- Former Agriculture Principal Secretary Richard Lesiyampe reported to the press that unknown individuals tried to kill him by shooting at his convoy in Samburu.
- Lesiyampe believes that certain people did not want him to visit specific areas in Samburu North and Samburu East, leading to the alleged assassination attempt.
- He has called on the Directorate of Criminal Investigations to investigate the incident and bring the perpetrators to justice, citing a similar unsolved assassination case involving a Member of the County Assembly in Samburu from the previous year.
