- The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) arrested four former Nyamira County officials for illegally appointing 56 staff members in positions not approved by the Cabinet or budgeted for in the 2016/2017 financial year.
- The suspects are accused of hiring officers through a process tainted by influence peddling, corruption, nepotism, and clannism, and are currently held at the Kisii Central Police Station awaiting further legal proceedings.
- Additionally, the EACC also arrested a government official from the Lands Control Board in Meru for soliciting bribes from the public during land transactions, with the suspect caught accepting a bribe and subsequently booked at Isiolo Police Station for the offence.
