- Three Members of Parliament from Eastern Province have resigned from the Patriotic Front party to campaign for the United Party for National Development (UPND), according to Miles Sampa.
- Sampa, a PF faction leader, plans to inform the Speaker of the National Assembly and the Electoral Commission of Zambia to declare the seats vacant and call for by-elections in the three constituencies within 90 days.
- The MPs will not be eligible to recontest even under the UPND due to the Constitution's rules on voluntary resignation.
