- The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has invited opposition parties like UTM, UDF, and AFORD to a big meeting on August 17-18 in Blantyre, overseen by senior members of the Malawi Electoral Commission.
- Around 2,600 delegates are expected to attend, with no challengers to DPP leader Peter Mutharika so far, who will face off against current Malawi leader Lazarus Chakwera in the upcoming elections.
