Mali coup: Military promises elections after ousting president

Soldiers in Mali ousted President Ibrahim Boubacar Keïta and plan to establish a civilian transitional government and hold new elections to prevent further chaos in the country.
The soldiers, who call themselves the National Committee for the Salvation of the People, have announced their intention to organize general elections and create a political transition leading to a new Mali.
