- A power struggle is happening at Kenya's Ministry of Health headquarters, Afya House, between Health Cabinet Secretary Deborah Mulongo and Principal Secretary Harry Kimtai over recent appointments, including the appointment of Andrew Mulwa to head the National AIDS and STI Control Programme (NASCOP).
- Despite Mulongo revoking the appointment, Kimtai insists he has the authority to make the decision, leading to tensions and disagreements within the ministry.
- This conflict adds to a history of controversies and power struggles at Afya House, including past scandals like the KEMSA scandal and mismanagement of funds, which have caused divisions and ongoing investigations within the ministry.
