- The European Union launched the Digital Single Market Project in 2014 to promote economic growth by enabling free movement of goods, people, and capital across EU nations through fair competition and consumer protection.
- The project aims to remove online barriers, improve regulatory environments, and boost the European digital economy, with achievements like abolishing mobile roaming charges and implementing common cybersecurity laws.
- The EU is collaborating with the African Union to support the adoption of a digital single market in Africa, aiming to enhance digitization and services across the region by learning from the EU's experiences and promoting digital transformation in African countries.
