- A new report by the Alliance for Affordable Internet (A4AI) found that African countries have some of the highest internet access costs compared to income worldwide, with prices in some cases exceeding a fifth of average earnings for 1GB of mobile data.
- The report recommends increasing market competition and public sector intervention, such as providing free public Wi-Fi and telecentres, to improve affordability and access to the internet, especially in rural areas and for marginalized populations.
