Uganda wants online media platforms and influencers to pay $20 to operate in the country
  • The Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) is now requiring online media platforms and influencers in Uganda to register and obtain a license for a fee of $20.
  • The UCC aims to regulate online publications to prevent misinformation and incitement of violence, but critics fear it could limit freedom of speech, similar to other African countries with restrictive internet policies.
