- Australian farmer Tony Rinaudo has developed a technique called farmer-managed natural regeneration (FMNR) to reforest arid landscapes by pruning and allowing trees to regrow from existing root systems.
- Over 30 years, he has regenerated 6 million hectares of land in west Africa, demonstrating that nature can heal itself if given the chance.
- Rinaudo's simple and cost-effective approach has not only improved farming yields and local livelihoods but also serves as a powerful tool to combat climate change by sequestering carbon from the atmosphere.
