- Transsion Holdings, a Chinese company, is the top smartphone seller in Africa, primarily through its brands Itel, Infinix, and Tecno, and it has also developed a popular music streaming service called Boomplay, which has 31 million users.
- As competition from global services like Spotify and Tidal increases, Boomplay is trying to adapt by signing deals with major music companies and hopes to benefit from a growing demand for on-demand music among young people in Africa.
