This is so unfair, Killing those inocent animals for can pet food. This is against the animal reserves and will draw them closer to extinction.

    This is genocide...

And a mixed feeling around that but I can assure the populace that it is not a win-win situation.

The previously initiated four years hunting ban as placed Botswana among places on tourism in Africa, a development which has inevitably in turn generated some added income to the country's purse.

Botswana have over 130,000 elephants and killing them one after thebothrr all for the purpose of some can pet food is going to send those animals into exile and place a huge blow on their economy as well. I really don't know what President Mokgweetsi Masisi is thinking about but since the decision seems to have been made, they should be braced for whatever consequences that follows

I get angry when i see animals like this being mistreated in this side of the world. I recently did a press release for an Anti-Rhino Poaching organization based in South Africa and the details of Rhino poaching was shocking for me. Elephants are harmless, peaceful animals and no one should consider killing them for canned pet food or any reason whatsoever. I think the government should consider the recommendations and reports from stakeholder meetings and continue to implement strategies (in addition to the ban) that can safeguard the growing elephant ecosystem. I would recommend relocating elephants to new and safe settlements in other countries if there is saturation in Botswana to allow them thrive. The country already has a thriving tourism industry because of these animals, it needs to do more in protecting its treasures.
