This is really good. Google is really trying hard to customize their products to meet the needs of countries they serve which is commendable. Also, the fact that Nigeria is now being recognized more with regards to language is a plus. My only worry with this new Maps update is that there are still complaints of street names sounding off which was the same with the original voice. One would expect a voice sounding local will have all the names right. In any case, it's a work in progress and I believe subsequent updates should fix this.
First, there is no such thing as a Nigerian accent. However, I'd be unfair to not note here that Google is trying their best to better serve the Nigerian market albeit poor effort. As I listened to the demo, I couldn't help but hear a pretentious and made-up voice. I know this might stem from the difficulty in serving the entirety of the Nigerian accents. I, however, think that starting with the wazobia accent will be more accurately be a welcomed effort, even though it might not be better.
