Uganda's first Artificial Intelligence (AI) lab has launched a malaria detecting smartphone app
  • A new Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology developed at Makerere University in Uganda can diagnose blood samples for malaria and tuberculosis using a cell phone, making the process quicker and more accurate.
  • The device, which uses deep learning algorithms, aims to assist lab technicians in diagnosing patients more efficiently, with diagnosis times potentially reduced from 30 minutes to just two minutes.
